How did you meet your canine companion?
Jack came into our lives straight from the city pound. He was sad and had given up, but as soon as we asked to meet him, he jumped into our laps, and we never looked back! About five years after his Gotcha Day, we moved into a larger home and wanted him to have a companion. We worked with our local Chicago rescues to meet other dogs. For every visit with an adoptable pup, we made sure Jack came along for the ride. After meet-n-greets with several dogs (and Jack not caring one way or another), we meet CC. It was love at first sight! The two were inseparable, and we couldn't sign the adoption papers fast enough. They are so, so happy together, and that makes US so, so happy.
What’s the story behind your dog’s name?
Jack was named 'Jimbo' at the pound, but he needed something a little more snappy. Jack has suited him well over all these years. He's our best little buddy! CC's name was originally 'Trea,' but I'll never forget the first line of her adoption page description: 'You will fall in love with this chocolate chunk!' No truer words were ever written, and so her name became Chocolate Chunk. For short, we call her CC!
How has your life changed since you have had your dog?
We laugh more, and we love exploring our beautiful city with them on long walks. They have a kitty sister as well, and our home is full of so much fuzzy goodness.
Which 3 words best describe your dog’s personality?
Jack: serious, kind, gentle // CC: silly, sleepy, caregiver
Who’s your dog’s favourite person?
Jack is definitely his father's dog, and CC is my homegirl!
What’s your dog’s superpower?
Both of these noodles can sense another dog walking down the street from 3 blocks away. The most annoying superpower, probably!
If your dog had a job, what would it be?
CC would be a momma, for sure. She's always bathing Jack and poking at home to clean him up. Jack would be a business man in a suit and tie. His serious, handsome face just kills us! He has the potential to be a doggy millionaire.
What’s your dogs’ most unappealing / most embarrassing habit?
These two can't NOT jump on every person they meet. All it takes is one greeting by pouncing on you, and then they're fine. They simply can't contain their excitement of meeting new people. We're working on it, but it's been a losing battle for years!
Where can we find you hanging out with your dog?
On our front porch with an evening cocktail.
Finish this sentence "a dog walks into a bar….”
... shakes it off and keeps walking.
