American Pitbull Terrier/mix, She’s a rescue from Saving Grace Pet Adoption!
How did you meet your canine companion?
JoJo is a rescue! I saw her picture on Facebook shared by a friend who was trying to get her adopted. JoJo's first adoption didn't work out, and when I first saw her I just remember pausing and thinking: "I think that's my dog." We went to pick her up for her first overnight stay with us. It was snowy and icy and she had on a little coat. She was really skinny and needed some TLC with her skin and fur. I remember I sat in the back of my Jeep while my husband drove. She had her head on my lap, tail wagging and thumping the seat the entire ride home.
What’s the story behind your dog’s name?
She came with it! But, it suits her perfectly. I can't even imagine what else I'd call her. But, she does also go by: Jo, Joey, Joey Baby, Josephine, and Little.
How has your life changed since you have had your dog?
So much and in the best ways! I'm happier and more relaxed. I stress the small stuff less, and, even some of the big stuff. She grounds me and keeps me calm. Nothing's been detracted from my life at all by adopting her. She's a dream dog. She sleeps in, travels great, loves going places, has never destroyed any of our belongings, and is the very best snuggler.
Which 3 words best describe your dog’s personality?
Comical, calm, loyal.
Who’s your dog’s favourite person?
Me. :) We're attached at the hip. Literally. Next would probably be my husband. They have this little routine at night. She usually sleeps at the foot of our bed, but, like clockwork at a certain time of night she jumps off the bed and goes to his side and asks to snuggle with him. It's the cutest thing.
What’s your dog’s superpower?
She has one magic ear (her left ear) that stands up straight when she's on high alert.
If your dog had a job, what would it be?
I've actually thought she'd make a great therapy dog. Not only does she love lying with her head in my lap, but she's very intuitive. She somehow knows what I need when I need it.
What’s your dog’s most unappealing / most embarrassing habit?
She hates it when men wield large, stick-like things, things that look like guns, or seem in some way threatening. She reacts by barking and has a mini freak out. But, we're working on desensitizing her to that and it's working.
Where can we find you hanging out with your dog?
Usually on the sofa, on a walk/run, or exploring some new trendy patio spot in downtown Raleigh.
Finish this sentence "a dog walks into a bar….”
...because bars that allow dogs are cooler. ;)
