The Freelance Illustrator Dog Bore & The Voice & Stage Actor Dog Bore
We are dedicating the month of June to share the stories of some of the excellent dogs who have found their furever homes via Animal Lighthouse Rescue but there are still far too many dogs who are waiting & hoping to find their own happy home.
And remember if you can't adopt you can still donate and make a big difference to a dog..

How did you meet your canine companion?
We were looking at some of the small rescues around us and stumbled on Animal Lighthouse's page. As soon as we saw the videos of Linus (then Leo) in a volunteer's lap, we knew he was our guy.
What’s the story behind your dog’s name?
When we got him home, he was so scared and confused. We already had a bed and little blue blanket ready for him (plus toys, etc). He became so attached to that blanket that he wouldn't leave it. If I wanted him to be in another part of the apartment, I just had to move the blanket. We ended up changing his name from Leo (which felt too big for him) to Linus, after the Peanuts character who has a blue blankie.
How has your life changed since you have had your dog?
There is so much more casual joy in our lives. Also, being able to focus on helping Linus become a confidant and happy dog has helped me with my anxiety. Our lives have more structure to them now and consistency, which was necessary for Linus's happiness. He has brought so much joyful energy and comfort into our lives while we navigate a city that can often seem alienating and cold, and brought my husband and I closer together.
Which 3 words best describe your dog’s personality?
Loving, trusting, eager
Who’s your dog’s favourite person?
I'm his favorite when he's bored, his dad is his favorite when he wants to snuggle
What’s your dog’s superpower?
The ability to turn even the biggest, most menacing people into mushy, baby-talking dog lovers.
If your dog had a job, what would it be?
Ambassador. Even though new situations make him nervous, he's ALWAYS eager to meet and be around other people and dogs. If he's frightened he will often to go either the largest nearby dog or the nearest human and stick close to them for support. He has never met a dog or person he didn't love.
What’s your dog’s most unappealing / most embarrassing habit?
Linus loves being held, so he will ask everyone he meets to pick him up but jumping up on them. We have been working hard to curb it but he doesn't seem to notice our efforts...
Where can we find you hanging out with your dog?
Sometimes, like today, he's at work with me in Park Slope, Brooklyn. Other days we like to hang out near The Oval in Glendale, Queens.
Finish this sentence "a dog walks into a bar….”
...and says "I really could use a drink. Where are your toilets?"
