How did you meet your canine companion?
I met Scooty 5 years ago through a rescue called Baja dog rescue, they were seeking funds to help a dog who had been hit by a car. I saw her picture with her big doe eyes and fell in love.
What’s the story behind your dog’s name?
No stretch of imagination here, Scooty because she Scoots. We originally called her Scoots but it turned into Scooty.
How has your life changed since you have had your dog?
Getting a dog is a big life style change, but getting a special needs dog is a massive change. When we got Scooty she had no control over her pee or poop, stairs became a challenge taking her up or down and making 2 trips if you needed to bring anything. Unconditional Patience definitely is required. But Scooty makes it all easy and fun, she's makes us laugh all day, she has made me happier and more compassionate.
Which 3 words best describe your dog’s personality?
Goofy, happy, sweat
Who’s your dog’s favourite person?
Both her moms
What’s your dog’s superpower?
Teleporting and telepathic. For being a handicapped dog, we find her in places we don't expect, like the top of the stairs after leaving her for 10 min, we found her in a bathtub once, on the other side of a fence and she once mysteriously kept getting on the couch. Telepathic because she is a brilliant communicator.
If your dog had a job, what would it be?
Crash test dummy
What’s your dog’s most unappealing / most embarrassing habit?
Pooping herself when excited, it makes for awkward play dates.
Where can we find you hanging out with your dog?
Home Depot or the beach
