The Hairdressing Dog Bore
Dog Bore: Devon Sware
Spaniel Mix, from Puerto Vallarta SPCA
How did you meet your canine companion?
Me and my boyfriend were looking on Kijiji to adopt a spaniel. We found a post from the Puerto Vallarta SPCA about Tango! They were planning on relocating him to Canada. We knew we had to meet him. He had a foster family lined up to pick him up from the airport when he arrived, the morning after they brought him to us. We knew we had to keep him.
What’s the story behind your dog’s name?
His rescuers named him. We had considered changing it, but it felt right!
How has your life changed since you have had your dog?
Definitely more laughter! There’s never a dull moment with him around, and certainly no leaving your food unattended. The amount of times I have found him on the kitchen table is crazy! If there’s food, he will find a way!
Which 3 words best describe your dog’s personality?
Confused, Lazy, Needy. I’m not sure if he will ever learn English because he always looks so confused!
Who’s your dog’s favourite person?
His daddy (my boyfriend) Spencer, for sure! At first he had a strong connection with him, and wasn’t sure about me. Didn’t really like me too much for the first month, but he got over it. Now I’d say I’m his second favourite. He’s a daddy’s boy!
What’s your dog’s superpower?
Climbing tables to get food! I don’t know how he does it most of the time. His legs are pretty short, but he manages.
If your dog had a job, what would it be?
We are in the process of having him become a registered therapy dog! So soon he will have a job where he gets pats all day. But other than that I can’t see him doing anything else. He’s not that young so he would probably resonate with a retiree. Lounging around, eating, and pats are his hobbies.
What’s your dog’s most unappealing / most embarrassing habit?
Humping! He doesn’t seem to understand how to properly play with the dogs at the dog park so he just humps them all! Anywhere he can reach too so usually their faces.
Where can we find you hanging out with your dog?
We try to go to the dog park often, if we aren’t there then we will be at grandmas with Tango’s doggy cousins, or at home on the couch!
